The properties of materials require specific structural design to be translated into a spatial environment suitable for livestock production. In Heilongjiang Province, winter insulation and summer ventilation present a key challenge. The design of the enclosure system for steel-structured cattle sheds is crucial in resolving this contradiction.

The walls typically utilize composite sandwich panels, whose core materials (such as polyurethane and rock wool) have low thermal conductivity, effectively blocking heat exchange between the inside and outside, reducing heat loss from the cattle and lowering heating energy consumption. The ridge of the steel structure can easily be designed as a continuous, long ridge ventilation strip, which, combined with electrically or manually operated side wall blinds, creates an effective "chimney effect" in summer, promoting air convection, expelling hot, humid air and harmful gases (such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide), and improving the microclimate of the livestock shed. This proactive environmental control capability based on structural characteristics is difficult to achieve cost-effectively with traditional structures.
